About the Opportunity

Join our Corporate Division as a Legal Counsel in Melbourne to make a real impact every day. We believe that every conversation, code line, and interface design is an opportunity to enrich our customers' experiences.

Reporting to the Head of Legal, Commercial (APAC), you will support the Legal function in building a world-class legal and regulatory infrastructure for sustainable business performance. You will be part of a team ensuring full compliance with regulatory requirements, including obligations related to customer and billing data, payment processing services, and acquiring/maintaining relevant global business licenses (e.g., payment institution licenses, money remittance licenses).

Responsibilities

  • Assist in providing legal advice to business units and central functions.
  • Advise the group on legal risks and provide legal support for all aspects of the group’s activities in APAC.
  • Provide pragmatic and legally sound guidance, fostering a culture of excellence with cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Maintain relationships with external counsel and other strategic advisors.
  • Offer legal and contractual support for all business areas, including commercial contracting, product development, payments, sales, and marketing.
  • Take responsibility for substantive legal issues as requested, including commercial, payments, privacy, product, intellectual property, regulatory, and corporate matters.
  • Collaborate with Legal & Compliance Leadership to monitor and respond to relevant statutory, regulatory, and policy changes.
  • Reinforce a culture of compliance with all relevant rules and regulations, including the formulation and adherence to internal policies, rules, and procedures.
  • Stay updated on legal and regulatory developments, assessing their impact on the business and providing advice accordingly.

Location

This position offers 100% remote work from anywhere in Australia, provided you have full working rights. If you are based in Melbourne, there is an office available for use should you choose.

Required Qualifications:

  • Law qualification from a reputable institution.
  • Admitted as a solicitor/lawyer, ideally in Australia.
  • Prior in-house legal experience is essential.
  • Minimum of 4-6 years of post-qualification legal experience.
  • Highly motivated self-starter with a proven ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment, both independently and as part of a team.
