Employment Type: Full-time Pay Range: $138,900 - $191,000 per year Location Type: Remote (with occasional travel) Scheduled Weekly Hours: 40 Bonus Incentive: Eligible for a bonus incentive plan based on company and/or individual performance.


Position Overview

Join our caring community and help us put health first! We are seeking a Counsel to support our growing and dynamic cyber security and privacy practice. This role will involve advising business groups, legal/compliance, and various other teams on legal and strategic matters related to data privacy and protection.


Responsibilities

  • Advise business groups, legal/compliance, and other teams on legal and strategic matters surrounding data privacy and protection.
  • Maintain a high-level of knowledge regarding current case law, statutes, regulations, and guidelines related to federal privacy protections.
  • Assist the privacy office and law department with breach/incident response.
  • Review contracts and agreements, including business associate agreements, information security agreements, and services contracts.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Enterprise Information Protection, Procurement, Data Governance, Risk Management, and other teams to advise on data uses.
  • Manage legal risk and ensure regulatory compliance.

Requirements

  • Required Qualifications:
    • Juris Doctorate (JD) degree.
    • Licensing in at least one state.
    • 2-5 or more years of relevant experience.
    • Ability to engage in strategic thinking, innovative problem-solving, and deliver client-focused solutions.
    • Excellent people skills and the ability to work effectively with individuals at all levels, including executive management.
    • Ability to work both independently under general supervision and collaboratively within a team.
    • Direct experience applying U.S. privacy laws, regulations, and industry guidelines.
    • Direct experience evaluating privacy impacts related to acquisitions, partnerships, commercial deals, and updates to internal and external policies and compliance programs.
  • Preferred Qualifications:
    • Experience in health law, either at a law firm or within an in-house health care organization.
    • Demonstrated keen interest and knowledge of cyber security and privacy matters.
    • Desire and ability to learn new and evolving areas of the law.
