Requirements

Candidates should possess a relevant degree such as Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or a related field, or equivalent work experience gained through a comprehensive software engineering boot camp. They should have several years of experience building complex products, demonstrating well-tested ideas and opinions, and a passion for modern technologies and tools, focusing on selecting the right tools for the job. A solid understanding of modern programming and design principles, along with a commitment to high code quality, is also required.

Responsibilities

The Lead Infrastructure Engineer will maintain and improve BigCommerce’s Cloud Development Environment, enhance engineer productivity by removing environment-related impediments, manage cloud-hosted Virtual Machines (VMs) in Google Cloud Platform (GCP), maintain and evolve the VM provisioning process, utilize and work with technologies such as GCP, Nomad, Consul, Vault, Terraform, Packer, Puppet, and CircleCI, maintain Ruby and Golang services that orchestrate infrastructure, educate engineers on tool usage and process improvements, respond to support requests for the development environment, document technical aspects and user flows of features, collaborate with a distributed team across the globe, assist in defining the team’s roadmap, and work closely with engineers to gather requirements.
