Requirements

  • Background in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with extensive design experience
  • Significant relevant work experience in engineering or technical discipline
  • Appropriate standard of technical, safety, and professional knowledge
  • Knowledge of Oil & Gas businesses, especially subsea (asset)
  • Fully familiar with Risk Assessment and Reliability Verification procedures
  • Highly knowledgeable of current relevant industry standards and codes
  • Experience with Design/Modelling/Financial/Project Management/Analytical software (Teamcenter, Creo, AutoCAD, Ansys Workbench)
  • Conscientious, flexible, versatile, and determined
  • Capable of assertive and positive communication and performance
  • Innovative, drives excellence and improvement
  • Fully fluent in English (other location-specific languages desirable)
  • Sufficient understanding of behavioral personnel issues

Responsibilities

  • Mentor and train less experienced designers
  • Create work packs for delegation, review detail drawings, create test procedures, and lead tasks with external business partners
  • Create layouts, specify functional components, evaluate stackups, create assembly procedures, support manufacturing, and undertake basic calculations
  • Interpret customer engineering specifications to produce layout, detail, and assembly designs and specifications
  • Develop conceptual design requirements and layouts for review following company design process plan (DPP)
  • Develop general design specifications for interpretation by other engineers and designers
  • Retrieve and submit data in PLM (Teamcenter) system following company protocols
  • Create/review detail, fabrication, and assembly level drawings to company standards and format
  • Create/review detail designs for manufacture and participate/create material for design reviews including materials and environmental reviews using relevant software
  • Modify and create 3D models and drawings to manufacturing standards using company protocols and parametric practices
  • Create/review Bill of Materials (BOM) in PLM system
  • Undertake design verification (e.g., tolerance studies, design reliability, design for manufacture, simple failure analysis, design reviews, simple calculations)
  • Identify improvements in existing products, procedures, and processes and develop cost-effective solutions
  • Create/review factory acceptance (FAT) procedures, prototype test procedures, FDS, and User Manuals
  • Ensure all design activities and documents are correctly archived in electronic document management system
  • Understand and apply design for manufacture principles (turning, machining, drilling, milling, welding)
  • Provide support to the team working on tenders
  • Seek new innovative technical solutions to improve team processes, products, and systems
