Requirements

Background in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent with extensive design experience
Significant relevant work experience in engineering or technical discipline
Appropriate standard of technical, safety, and professional knowledge
Knowledge of Oil & Gas businesses, especially subsea (asset)
Fully familiar with Risk Assessment and Reliability Verification procedures
Highly knowledgeable of current relevant industry standards and codes
Experience with Design/Modelling/Financial/Project Management/Analytical software (Teamcenter, Creo, AutoCAD, Ansys Workbench)
Conscientious, flexible, versatile, and determined
Capable of assertive and positive communication and performance
Innovative, drives excellence and improvement
Fully fluent in English (other location-specific languages desirable)
Sufficient understanding of behavioral personnel issues
Works effectively with team members

Responsibilities

Mentor and train less experienced designers
Create work packs for delegation, review detail drawings, create test procedures, and lead tasks with external business partners
Create layouts, specify functional components, evaluate stackups, create assembly procedures, support manufacturing, and undertake basic calculations
Interpret customer engineering specifications to produce layout, detail, and assembly designs and specifications
Develop conceptual design requirements and layouts for review following company design process plan (DPP)
Develop general design specifications for interpretation by other engineers and designers
Retrieve and submit data in PLM (Teamcenter) system following company protocols
Create/review detail, fabrication, and assembly level drawings to company standards and format
Create/review detail designs for manufacture and participate/create material for design reviews including materials and environmental reviews using relevant software
Modify and create 3D models and drawings to manufacturing standards using company protocols and parametric practices
Create/review Bill of Materials (BOM) in PLM system
Undertake design verification (e.g., tolerance studies, design reliability, design for manufacture, simple failure analysis, design reviews, simple calculations)
Identify improvements in existing products, procedures, and processes and develop cost-effective solutions
Create/review factory acceptance (FAT) procedures, prototype test procedures, FDS, and User Manuals
Ensure all design activities and documents are correctly archived in electronic document management system
Understand and apply design for manufacture principles (turning, machining, drilling, milling, welding)
Provide support to the team working on tenders
Seek new innovative technical solutions to improve team processes, products, and systems
