Candidates must have a minimum of 5 years of experience in tech/startup or digital product agency work, or equivalent. A strong understanding of Product Design software, preferably Figma, is required, along with extraordinary visual design skills and a solid background in visual/interaction design principles. Excellent front-end development skills in semantic HTML, CSS (up-to-date on latest features), and JavaScript (including frameworks) are also necessary.
The Senior Design-Engineer will maintain and evolve Ramp's cross-platform design system, contributing to its design and development. They will help shape the collaboration between designers and engineers by building, evolving, and maintaining design and engineering collaboration tools to increase team velocity. Responsibilities include contributing to the design and user experience of the core product by evolving the design process through documentation and guidelines, working directly with product, engineering, and design teams to develop and implement tooling, and championing the user experience and accessibility of products. The role involves advocating for users by iterating on core products and experiences, collaborating with designers to evolve product vision, design systems, and internal design collaboration processes, and supporting engineers with component APIs and a focus on developer experience. Participation in team rituals like design crit, story creation, and weekly stand-ups is expected, as is assisting in hiring new team members.
