Requirements

  • Ability to meet regularly with dialysis patients at clinic(s) in assigned region
  • Capability to educate patients on insurance options (e.g., Medicare, Medicaid, Medicare Supplement, State Renal programs, COBRA)
  • Skills in obtaining premium statements, signatures, and necessary documents for applications and waivers
  • Proficiency in determining Medicare/Medicaid eligibility, contacting Social Security offices, and assisting with applications
  • Competence in tracking 30-month coordination period, monitoring Medicaid status monthly, and verifying spend-down amounts
  • Ability to evaluate personal financial information for indigent program determinations
  • Experience with completing and following up on paperwork for disputed claims, indigent waivers, Medicare reinstatements, and open enrollment
  • Capacity to monitor and update patients' insurance information accurately for Accounts Receivable
  • Skills in researching and correcting discrepancies in billing systems and patient reports
  • Ability to prepare, analyze, and review monthly reports and provide QA information
  • Willingness to complete monthly audit exams and stay current on internal policies
  • Comfortable with desk work, personal computer use, and interaction in a health care facility environment with moderate noise

Responsibilities

  • Educate dialysis patients on alternative insurance options and ensure follow-through on applications
  • Obtain premium statements, signatures, and documents; discuss changes in employment or situations
  • Complete and follow up on paperwork for disputed claims and insurance terminations
  • Collect documents for initial and annual indigent waivers
  • Determine Medicare eligibility, assist with applications, act as liaison for terminations/reinstatements, and complete annual open enrollment papers
  • Track 30-month coordination period for patients on employer Group Health Plans
  • Monitor and verify Medicaid status monthly, including spend-down amounts
  • Evaluate financial information and complete initial/annual indigent waiver applications
  • Monitor all patients' insurance information for accuracy and update Accounts Receivable; address anomalies
  • Meet with patients receiving direct insurance payments to ensure payment for dialysis treatments
  • Prepare, analyze, and review monthly reports; audit billing systems and correct discrepancies
  • Provide monthly QA updates on insurance status and action plans
  • Complete monthly audit exams
  • Present on insurance/financial assistance options as necessary
  • Assist with projects as assigned by supervisor and perform other duties
