Requirements

Candidates should possess 5+ years of hands-on experience working with clinical vocabularies, medical coding systems, and healthcare data standards, demonstrating deep expertise in drug classification and coding systems such as NDC, RxNorm, and ATC. Advanced knowledge of diagnostic and procedural code sets, including ICD-10-CM, ICD-10-PCS, CPT, and HCPCS, is required, along with familiarity with life sciences data standards like LOINC and genomics or biomarker datasets. A Bachelor’s degree in Health Informatics, Biomedical Informatics, Pharmacy, Life Sciences, or a related field is also necessary.

Responsibilities

The Health Data Terminologist will design, develop, and maintain hierarchical structures linking drugs, diagnoses, procedures, and indications, curate and manage controlled vocabularies, ontologies, and terminologies, establish mappings between different clinical and pharmaceutical data standards, collaborate cross-functionally with data scientists, product managers, and strategy experts, identify and incorporate new clinical and claims-related reference datasets, advise on the integration of genomics and biomarker data, and align taxonomy governance with business, research, and regulatory needs.
