Position Overview

Headway's mission is to build a new mental health care system that everyone can access. We have developed technology that assists individuals in finding excellent therapists through the first software-enabled national network of providers who accept insurance.

A significant portion of the US population experiences treatable mental health conditions, yet most providers do not accept insurance, making therapy prohibitively expensive for many. Headway is constructing a new mental healthcare system that is accessible to all by simplifying the process for therapists to accept insurance and expand their practices.

Founded in 2019, Headway has grown into a diverse, national network of over 45,000 mental healthcare providers across all 50 states. These providers utilize our software to manage their practices and have served over 1 million patients. We are a Series D company, having secured over $325 million in funding from prominent investors including a16z (Andreessen Horowitz), Accel, GV (formerly Google Ventures), Spark Capital, Thrive Capital, Forerunner Ventures, and Health Care Service Corporation.

About the Role

Headway is dedicated to making mental healthcare more accessible and is seeking a senior marketing leader to help shape and amplify our brand and product narrative. As the Head of Product and Brand Marketing, you will spearhead go-to-market initiatives targeting three core audiences: Providers (SMBs), Patients (Consumers), and Payers (Enterprises). Your responsibilities will encompass Product Marketing, Brand Marketing, and Corporate Communications.

Reporting directly to the VP of Product, you will be a crucial partner in developing and executing seamless and impactful customer experiences. You will be responsible for launching new products, evolving the Headway brand, building a high-performing team, and translating complex value propositions into compelling marketing strategies that resonate with a diverse customer base.

As one of a select group of senior leaders, you will play a pivotal role in a rapidly scaling organization. You will collaborate with leaders across Product, Performance Marketing, Sales, Business Development, Customer Support, and Operations, contributing to the broader strategic direction of our fast-growing company.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Build and lead a top-performing team of Product Marketers, Brand Strategists, and Communications professionals, fostering a culture of collaboration, creativity, and accountability.
  • Product Marketing Strategy: Define and own the overarching product marketing strategy, ensuring alignment with company goals, product roadmaps, and market opportunities.
  • Messaging & Positioning: Craft and evolve compelling messaging and positioning that clearly communicates Headway’s unique value to each of our target audiences.
  • Product Launches: Own product launches end-to-end, introducing new capabilities to our customers and reinforcing key value propositions.
  • Performance Analysis: Establish and track KPIs, continuously analyzing performance and optimizing strategies to improve brand reach, customer engagement, and business impact.
  • Brand Building: Shape and activate the Headway brand, building trust and recognition in the market.

Requirements

  • 12+ years of experience in integrated marketing, with a strong focus on brand and product marketing.
  • 7+ years of experience leading high-performing teams.
  • Proven track record of successfully leading both 0→1 go-to-market strategies and scaled product launches across multiple customer segments.
  • Strategic leader and hands-on operator, comfortable with both setting vision and executing.
  • Ability to thrive in fast-paced, ambiguous environments and bring a growth mindset to solving complex challenges.
  • Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, with proven experience influencing stakeholders across product, marketing, sales, and operations.
  • Data-driven and results-oriented, with experience developing KPIs, dashboards, and frameworks that connect marketing efforts to business outcomes.
