HazMat Retail Driver Technician

Employment Type: Full-time

Position Overview

The HazMat Retail Driver Technician is responsible for operating Class A or B trucks in a Less Than Truckload (LTL) capacity to pick up customer retail waste from retail stores, pharmacies, and/or industrial sites. The role involves sorting, packaging, verifying, securing, and transporting customer waste to temporary storage or treatment facilities, while providing excellent customer service. The technician will maintain electronic logs and documentation of manifests and work orders, and perform various duties in compliance with government regulations and procedures.

Principal Responsibilities

  • Performs LTL pickups.
  • Maintains company equipment.
  • Ensures customer satisfaction.
  • Maintains vehicle log.
  • Maintains documentation of manifests and work orders.
  • Performs DOT pre-trip and post-trip inspections.
  • Processes hazardous and non-hazardous materials as needed.
  • Assists in maintaining good housekeeping at the facility and on the grounds.
  • Functions as a technician on lab pack and field service projects.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • A valid Class A commercial driver’s license.
  • Current 40-hour HAZWOPER Training or ability to pass the course upon hire.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Knowledge of electrical, plumbing, hydraulic, and compressor systems.
  • Knowledge of pumps, motors, motor controls, instrumentation, metal fabrication, and other maintenance functions.
  • Skilled in using hand and shop tools, and instruments.
  • Demonstrates accuracy, thoroughness, and attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize, stay focused, and handle multiple, diverse responsibilities.
  • CDL Hazmat endorsement preferred.
