Requirements

  • Indian nationality with 5 to 10 years’ experience in Government Affairs at a multinational company and/or P&G background
  • Strong communicator (written & oral) and experienced negotiator
  • Ability to analyze, articulate, and proactively advocate a position for the Company, assimilating complex details quickly
  • Sound political judgment and substantive working knowledge of the Indian government structure, political, and legislative policy process (government experience desirable)
  • Demonstrated management skills with a track record of success as a leader or agent for change
  • Professional maturity and ability to operate in a fast-paced, competitive, and adversarial work environment
  • Substantive understanding of business issues and ability to quickly learn about the Company’s long-term commercial interests
  • Highest levels of integrity

  • Self-initiator, versatile, assumes risk with responsibility
  • Enjoys people and has strong networking/interpersonal capabilities
  • Understanding of P&G business and external environment, including Indian Government structure, political, and policy-making process
  • Ability to build and maintain networks and close working relationships with Federal and State Government Departments, organizations, and officials at Secretary, Under Secretary, and Director General levels, consistent with company PVP
  • Leadership skills: self-starter, proactive in identifying issues/opportunities, works individually and in teams, makes credible decisions, develops internal resources
  • Ability to read political & legislative environment, identify emerging issues/challenges affecting profitability and competitiveness
  • Crisis management: implement/develop strategies and action plans to manage government interfaces (local, provincial, central) with minimal impact on business/reputation
  • Strong communication skills (written and oral) for building stakeholder relationships and advocating P&G’s point of view

Responsibilities

  • Improve and protect P&G India’s reputation, competitiveness, and shareholder value by achieving favorable outcomes through leveraging and influencing policy, legislation, and regulation at national and local government levels
  • Serve as key external support for P&G India, consistent with global Purpose, Values, and Principles
  • Report to the Global Government Relations Manager India
