Position Overview

Remote is seeking an experienced Payments Operations Lead to manage day-to-day payments operations, ensuring accurate and timely payments to employees and contractors globally. This role involves serving as a subject matter expert on country pay-out operational requirements, resolving payment reconciliation discrepancies, and leading integration efforts with banking partners and payment providers. The ideal candidate will drive process improvements, develop performance metrics, and collaborate across multiple teams to ensure efficient and compliant global payment execution.

Requirements

  • Experience: 5-6 years of global or regional payments experience, with a focus on Operations.
  • Bank Integrations: Proven experience leading bank integration projects via API or host-to-host connectivity, and implementation of automated payment files in ISO 20022 XML format.
  • Banking Regulations: Deep knowledge of banking regulations surrounding payment requirements across the globe.
  • Project Ownership: Proven motivation and initiative to take ownership of projects from discovery to resolution, set aggressive business goals, drive results, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Execution Style: Ability to balance attention to detail with swift execution; a strength in doing things quickly and well.
  • Problem Resolution: Proven ability to autonomously resolve complex payment issues.
  • Organizational Skills: Proven ability to highlight outstanding organization skills and go above and beyond in execution.
  • Communication: Exceptional ability to communicate and foster positive business relationships.
  • Team Management: Ability to establish milestones and keep all team members on task.
  • Industry Experience: Experience in a high-growth start-up or large multi-national is preferred.
  • Language: Writes and speaks fluent English.
  • Remote Work: Experience working remotely is considered a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day payments operations workflow and serve as a subject matter expert (SME) for country pay-out operational requirements globally.
  • Support Sales and cross-functional teams with banking or payment provider-related queries and issue resolution.
  • Own global payment execution, ensuring payments to employees and contractors are processed accurately and timely.
  • Own the research and resolution of payment reconciliation discrepancies on a daily basis.
  • Lead integration efforts with banking partners and payment providers, operationalizing new payment method execution.
  • Serve as an escalation point on complex payment issues and ascertain processes are in place to minimize payment processing issues.
  • Drive process improvements and efficiency solutions, including automation of daily operations workflow processes.
  • Develop tools, metrics, and dashboards to track performance of payments metrics.
  • Collaborate across multiple teams including Payroll, Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Finance.
  • Keep abreast of the latest innovations in the Payments and Compliance space.
  • Identify new sources of data to allow Remote to route payments globally using the most cost-effective method.
