Position Overview

Archer is an aerospace company based in San Jose, California, dedicated to advancing sustainable air mobility by building an all-electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft. Our aircraft is designed to carry four passengers with minimal noise. We believe diversity drives innovation and are committed to cultivating an equitable and inclusive environment.

We are seeking our first General Manager for the APAC Region to build and develop our presence in the region, reporting directly to our Chief Commercial Officer. This role is crucial for driving our commercialization strategy and establishing Archer as the global leader in eVTOL.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute Archer’s APAC go-to-market strategy in alignment with global priorities, with an initial focus on existing engagements.
  • Own the Profit and Loss (P&L) and all Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for the APAC region to achieve growth and profitability goals.
  • Deepen and expand Archer’s local presence by advancing partnerships, stakeholder relationships, and regulatory discussions.
  • Identify and negotiate strategic partnerships with airlines, airport operators, government stakeholders, and infrastructure providers across the APAC region.
  • Lead commercial discussions and structure joint ventures, pilot programs, and long-term agreements.
  • Coordinate with regulatory and policy teams to support type certification, operational approvals, and airspace integration.
  • Represent Archer at key regional events, forums, and with governmental agencies.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, operations, marketing, and legal teams to align commercial strategy with execution.
  • Drive local marketing and demand generation in partnership with the global commercial team.
  • Monitor market trends, competitive intelligence, and regional policy developments impacting Archer's success.
  • Support new team onboarding and future leadership transitions within APAC as markets mature.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 10 years of total experience, with at least 5 years in a leadership role at a high-growth technology startup or a proven track record in business development/commercial strategy within aviation, aerospace, or advanced mobility.
  • Demonstrated ability to build from scratch ("0 to 1") and scale in ambiguous environments without an established playbook.
  • Strong analytical and financial acumen with the ability to manage a P&L.
  • Proficiency in policy and regulatory matters relevant to scaling operations in the market.
  • Excellent cross-functional collaboration skills, working effectively with engineering, operations, and executive leadership.
  • Must reside in Asia, preferably in Singapore or another key APAC hub.
  • Ability to travel up to 25% of the year to headquarters and/or other markets.
  • Fluency in English is required. Additional Asian language skills (e.g., Japanese or Korean) are a strong plus.

Bonus Qualifications

  • MBA or an advanced STEM degree.
  • Experience in the aviation or aerospace industry.
  • Previous experience launching and scaling a business unit within a specific geography.
  • Deep knowledge of and existing relationships within the APAC region.
  • Early career experience in management consulting and/or investment banking.
  • Experience as a city- or region-level General Manager at a tech business (e.g., Uber, Lyft, DoorDash).
