Requirements

Candidates must possess strong SQL skills and experience modeling data in cloud data warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, or Redshift. Hands-on experience with dbt or similar transformation tools is required, along with experience designing data models for self-service by less technical users. Experience optimizing complex data pipelines to reduce complexity, cost, or latency is also necessary. The role requires the ability to work directly with stakeholders to translate business requirements into technical solutions, comfort working across multiple customer environments, and the capacity to adapt quickly to new contexts. Strong analytical thinking and a track record of shipping impactful, scalable solutions are essential. Bonus qualifications include experience in an internal data team and a customer-facing role, familiarity with the Hightouch product, and experience working with B2C marketing teams.

Responsibilities

The Forward-Deployed Data Engineer will translate prospect and customer business goals into actionable data models and workflows, partnering directly with customer data teams to understand their objectives and technical landscape. This role involves designing and implementing scalable data solutions for marketing teams, troubleshooting complex data issues, and guiding customers toward best practices. Responsibilities also include collaborating with internal teams to provide product feedback and influence roadmap priorities, prioritizing tasks across multiple customers while maintaining high quality and responsiveness, and contributing to internal tooling, playbooks, and knowledge sharing. The engineer will measure and communicate the business impact of their work with customers and support internal data engineering initiatives as needed.
