Requirements

Candidates should have 5+ years of professional experience as a Software Engineer, a degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, MIS, or equivalent, or relevant work experience. Knowledge of configuration management systems like Puppet, experience with Linux systems administration, scripting skills in Ruby and Bash, and experience developing/scripting in Ruby or Golang are required. Familiarity with modern infrastructure tools and technologies, comfort with exploring new languages and tools, and the ability to contribute to project discovery, design, and implementation are also essential.

Responsibilities

The Infrastructure Engineer II will maintain and improve BigCommerce’s Cloud Development Environment to enhance engineer productivity. Responsibilities include maintaining Ruby services that orchestrate infrastructure, contributing to a new Golang CLI tool, and working with technologies such as GCP, Nomad, Consul, Vault, Terraform, Packer, Puppet, and CircleCI. The role also involves educating engineers on tool usage, providing support for the development environment, documenting technical aspects, collaborating with a distributed team, assisting in roadmap definition, gathering requirements from engineers, and monitoring tooling health and functionality.
