Position Overview

Ethos is seeking an ambitious self-starter to join its Finance & Strategy Team. This role is crucial in defining the company’s financial plan, providing financial and operational decision support to cross-functional partners, and conducting market research to inform company strategy and product roadmaps. The position requires a blend of analytical, operational, and technical skills to evaluate key business problems related to scale, efficiency, and quality, while collaborating with multiple stakeholders. This role offers high visibility across the executive team and involves solving complex challenges in a rapidly scaling startup environment. Responsibilities

  • Drive efforts to serve new customer segments, launch new insurance products, and establish new partnerships.
  • Apply business judgment and financial insights to guide decisions related to unit economics, customer acquisition, operations, core business expansion, and new opportunities.
  • Utilize a data-driven analytical approach to influence decision-making and support company leadership in evaluating strategic initiatives.
  • Develop and monitor critical financial performance metrics, and communicate actionable insights to relevant stakeholders.

Qualifications and Skills

  • Experience:
    • 4+ years of relevant work experience.
    • 2+ years in consulting, investment banking, and/or private equity/growth equity.
    • 2+ years of operational experience at a high-growth technology company.
  • Technical Skills:
    • Best-in-class Excel skills and extensive experience developing insightful financial models and quantitative analyses.
    • Strong critical thinking and sound business judgment.
    • SQL knowledge and experience with statistical analysis tools are preferred.
  • Abilities:
    • Ability to transition between high-level strategic thinking and deep analytical problem-solving.
    • Motivated self-starter with a proven track record of success.
    • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines.
    • Eagerness to own and drive projects from the outset.
  • Communication & Collaboration:
    • Excellent communication skills.
    • Effective cross-functional collaborator.
  • Other:
    • Exceptional attention to detail.
    • Stellar academic record with a degree in a quantitative field (e.g., Finance, Business, Engineering, Mathematics, etc.).

Compensation

  • Salary Range: $85,000 - $164,000 (US national base salary)
    • Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The displayed range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries across all US locations.
