Requirements

  • 5+ years of field service experience
  • 3+ years of working with project teams, contractors and interfacing with customers
  • Strong mechanical aptitude & understanding of electromechanical systems and Cooling Distribution Units (CDU)
  • Ability to read and interpret diagrams (dimensions, assembly, electrical, cooling)
  • Ability to regularly use a forklift, ladder, hand tools, power tools, calibrated measurement devices, and hydraulic equipment
  • Clean Driving Record
  • Approximately 90% travel, often four to five nights away weekly, on a regular basis (covers North America with opportunities for international travel)
  • Based in Woburn, Massachusetts with frequent customer-site travel (on-site at customers’ facilities)
  • Preferred Qualifications
  • High School Diploma (or equivalent)
  • Trade School Certification in HVAC/R Field and/or electronics technology
  • EPA universal certificate
  • Experience with Liquid Cooling technologies
  • Knowledge of PLC function & interfacing (RS485, ethernet, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Installing, troubleshooting, resolving and testing cooling units manufactured by Boyd in parallel with customer installation in a state-of-the-art data center and ensuring all components function properly
  • Perform startups, inspections, troubleshooting, repairs and/or preventive maintenance service on all Boyd products at customer sites
  • Represent Boyd in a professional and courteous manner while following all Boyd and customer safety requirements
  • Work closely with Boyd’s Project team to successfully complete the deployment of Boyd’s thermal cooling systems, which includes members from our customers and various construction trades to ensure installation timelines are met
  • Competent in replacing subassemblies and performing system-level tests as required
  • Suggest and make recommendations for improvement to field service engineers, design engineers and management as needed
  • Ability to perform product commissioning and hand-over to customers from start to finish
  • Complete written repair reports to document the cause of failure(s), description of work performed, materials consumed, and condition of equipment
  • Conduct customer training on Boyd cooling products when onsite
  • Read, understand and use equipment diagrams, checklists, engineering drawings, and other process documentation to perform service tasks, assembly and repairs
