Requirements

Bachelor's Degree in chemistry or related field required
Preference for at least 3 years of practical experience as a Service Engineer with analytical instrumentation, or 3+ years of pertinent industry experience
Proficiency with Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry instrumentation preferred
Strong communication skills and ability to build positive customer relationships
Ability to prioritize service requests and produce clear and concise documentation
Able to securely move 50 pounds with periodic support and 25-30 pounds continuously throughout the day
Ability to bend, squat, stretch, and reach daily in a service function
Travel overnight, including possible air travel, for 50% of scheduled work
Maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record
Work independently within a customer location
Extensive walking/standing for 75-85% of the day
Operate in areas where chemicals are handled
Operate material handling equipment like push carts and pallet jacks
Wear appropriate personal protective equipment (e.g., lab coats, coveralls, hood, face shield, respirator, hairnets, steel-toed shoes, safety gloves)
Able to lift 40 lbs. without assistance
Adherence to all Good Manufacturing Practices (GMP) Safety Standards
Ideally based in the Saint Louis area (no relocation approved)

Responsibilities

Perform on-site installations, repairs, maintenance, qualifications, and validations of Chromatography and Mass Spectrometry systems
Proficiently use customer management software to complete service calls, handle parts inventories, and complete job tasks
Evaluate examination and assessment results to identify the origin of the issue, and suggest fixing, substitution, or alternative remedial measures
Coordinate problem resolution with engineering, customer service, and other personnel to expedite repairs
Analyze Chemistry reports of technical problems to recommend modifications to eliminate future issues
Provide a communication link between the customer and the company to ensure effective service
Develop and conduct training on safe operations of the equipment and demonstrate skills to trainees
Coordinate all field service support and customer relationship management components
Deliver complete solutions for Chromatographic and Mass Spectrometric systems, including deployment, maintenance, proactive upkeep, and instrument verifications
