Candidates should possess a technical degree from an accredited school and a minimum of 3 years of field service experience. They must demonstrate competencies with various tooling, including hydraulic tensioners, hydraulic rams, hand tools, pneumatic impact drivers, multi-meters, megger, rigging, generator special tooling, caliper, and precision measurement equipment. Willingness to travel frequently, approximately 75% to 85% of the time, both domestically and internationally, is required.
The Mechanical Field Service Engineer will provide mechanical repair services to customers operating a wide range of generators, motors, and ancillary systems, adhering to OEM standards and processes. This includes stripping down and rebuilding large generators, fault finding and rectifying issues, overhaul and cleaning, installing and commissioning generators, sync condensers, and motors, conducting mechanical alignment checks, performing basic electrical tests and adjustments, interpreting specifications, preparing method statements and reports, attending technical meetings, and providing training to customer personnel. Furthermore, the role involves carrying out on-site risk assessments and supervising site personnel.
