Requirements

Bachelor’s degree with 5+ years of relevant experience, OR Diploma in Engineering or Biology with strong diagnostics experience
Molecular Biology experience is an advantage
At least 3 years as a Medical Technologist in diagnostics
Hands-on experience with lab automation systems, LIS/connectivity, molecular diagnostics, and microbiology techniques
Strong technical support and customer training experience in clinical diagnostics
Experience engaging with KOLs in Malawi and developing customer networks
Familiarity with healthcare and diagnostics in Africa is an advantage
Excellent customer service and relationship management
Strong technical presentation and communication skills
Results-driven, self-motivated, and calm under pressure
Proven ability to solve problems and manage multiple priorities
Team-oriented with the ability to also work independently
Proficient in Microsoft Office, Outlook, and CRM/ERP systems (Salesforce preferred)
Strong organizational and time management skills
High standards of compliance, integrity, and cultural sensitivity
Required to spend ~80% of time on-site with customers
Valid driver’s license
Willingness to travel across Malawi, with some regional and occasional global travel
Flexibility to work after hours and weekends as required
Comfortable working in laboratory environments, with moderate-to-loud noise levels

Responsibilities

Perform installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting of Cepheid systems
Support customers with system integration, workflow optimization, validation, and accreditation
Deliver comprehensive training on systems, software, reagents, and connectivity solutions
Document installations, training, and service activities in SFDC, while providing market intelligence reports
Conduct proactive preventive maintenance, repairs, modifications, and de-installations
Manage spare parts stock, car inventory, and other required service materials
Build strong, long-term relationships with customers to maximize satisfaction and system performance
Collaborate with internal teams to resolve escalations and ensure corrective actions are implemented
Partner with Sales Representatives to develop account strategies to drive growth
Generate demand for testing on installed systems and identify opportunities for new assay adoption
Support the HBDC sales team with pre- and post-sales technical activities in Malawi and across Southern Africa
Conduct technical presentations, product demonstrations, and workshops to promote Cepheid solutions
Complete all required training on time
Deliver customer training consistently and effectively
Share knowledge, technical insights, and best practices with regional and global colleagues
