Requirements

Candidates must have over 10 years of experience in data platform engineering, data architecture, or related fields, with at least 8 years in a leadership role managing data platform teams of 5 or more engineers. Proven experience with large-scale data platform migrations and system decommissioning is required, along with hands-on experience with SQL-based data warehouses and strong proficiency in SQL, Python, and data pipeline orchestration tools. Experience with cloud platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP) is also necessary.

Responsibilities

The Executive Director, Data Platforms will oversee daily operations and maintenance of multiple data platforms, including legacy SQL-based systems, Palantir/Foundry, and file movement platforms, while leading the development and deployment of a new Databricks platform. They will develop and execute a comprehensive migration strategy from legacy systems to Databricks, including decommissioning plans for legacy SQL warehouses and Palantir/Foundry systems. This role involves building, leading, and mentoring a team of data platform leaders and engineers, fostering a culture of technical excellence, and providing technical guidance. Additionally, the Executive Director will define the technical architecture and standards for the Databricks environment, drive the adoption of modern data engineering practices, establish data quality frameworks, and partner with senior leadership to align data platform strategy with business objectives, while also managing vendor relationships.
