Requirements

  • Adheres to FMCNA Compliance Program, regulatory requirements, and FMS policies
  • Follows policies and procedures related to Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS) and Hazard Material Identification System (HMIS) for chemicals and solutions
  • Ability to perform physical tasks including cleaning, lifting heavy objects (jugs, boxes), moving equipment, and physical plant repairs (painting, changing bulbs, unclogging drains)
  • Capable of handling, labeling, diluting, and documenting disinfectants and cleaning solutions
  • Knowledge or ability to learn water treatment processes, including initiating RO machine, water quality testing, total chlorine testing, meter calibration, preparing bicarbonate and Granuflo solutions, and SDS system operations
  • Ability to document all activities, testing, and quality control on appropriate logs

Responsibilities

  • Maintain overall cleanliness and hygiene of the facility and physical plant, providing a clean, hygienic, and pleasant environment
  • Clean and disinfect all areas, especially patient and visitor areas, including bathrooms, kitchens, waiting areas, break rooms, conference rooms, offices, treatment areas, storage/water treatment rooms, and exterior premises (porches, parking areas)
  • Clean sinks, countertops, toilets, floors, mirrors, doors, walls; sweep, wash, wax, vacuum floors as needed
  • Clean facility equipment (TVs, computers, HVAC units/vents, furniture) to remove debris, dust, stains
  • Properly dispose of waste (regular, biohazard), trash receptacles, and recyclables per policies
  • Respond immediately to spills and clean affected areas
  • Maintain and organize cleaning supply area, ensure supplies are labeled, in order, and in adequate quantities; report needs to supervisor
  • Stock hygienic materials (soap, sanitizer, paper towels, sanitary rolls, paper cups) in pertinent areas
  • Report maintenance issues (leaking faucets, clogged drains) to appropriate party
  • Clean dialysis prep areas, stations post-treatment, and inside windows using proper solutions and techniques
  • Perform inventory and supply functions: receiving, handling, stocking, counting, and physical transfer of supplies
  • Perform minor physical plant repairs: painting, changing lamp bulbs, ceiling tiles, locks, shelving, tending to clogged drains
  • Assist technical or nursing staff with basic functions like moving equipment or lifting/carrying heavy objects
  • Initiate RO machine and perform initial water quality testing; document on logs
  • Initiate SDS system per procedures, document activities and quality control testing on logs
  • Perform total chlorine testing with charge nurse; document on logs
  • Calibrate meters for water quality and bicarbonate testing
  • Prepare bicarbonate and Granuflo solutions as needed; document preparation, transfer, and quality control testing on logs
  • Perform SDS system shutdown, daily rinse, and weekly bleach disinfect; document on logs
  • Other duties as assigned
