Requirements

  • Hands-on experience with public cloud environments (AWS, GCP) using Kubernetes, Docker, and IaC tools like Terraform
  • Previous experience at a hyper-growth startup
  • Experience leading a team of engineers, guiding them through career development and executing in a high-growth environment
  • Substantial hands-on experience doing the job you’ll be managing
  • Technical leader with hands-on experience in large distributed systems
  • Low ego, appetite to build, and good judgment in making hard trade-offs with limited resources
  • Ability to effectively recruit, mentor, retain, and measure high-performing teams
  • Ability to effectively manage stakeholders, competing priorities, and deal with ambiguity
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent work experience

Responsibilities

  • Develop, maintain, and set the vision for a scalable platform that enables Whatnot engineers to develop product features quickly while ensuring a stable and secure customer experience
  • Hire and develop engineers across all platform applications and backend systems
  • Collaborate with product engineering and infrastructure engineering counterparts to set the team's strategic direction and advocate for technical platform solutions to grow Whatnot
  • Plan and manage projects, coordinating and aligning your team’s goals with others across the business
