Bachelor’s degree or an equivalent combination of education and/or experience
Ten years of comprehensive retail operations experience
Five years of experience in a supervisory/management role
Excellent written and verbal communication skills; strong negotiation and influencing skills
Ability to effectively manage internal and external business relationships and work collaboratively
Excellent organization, prioritization, project management, analytical and decision-making skills
Strong leadership and financial/business acumen skills
Demonstrated knowledge of merchandising and procurement principles and skills, and in-depth knowledge of the meat/seafood merchandising
Proficient in Microsoft Office applications (i.e. Word, Excel, PowerPoint) required; Access experience preferred
Ability to travel up to 50%
Physical ability to lift and/or move 20 pounds; frequently required to sit/stand/walk
Responsibilities
Provide strategic direction for retail operations to ensure operational execution meets company goals of sales, margin, private label penetration, OSAT, associate satisfaction
Maintain company culture and promote positive work environment that fosters strong associate relations, as well as positive customer and community relations
Respond to inquiries or concerns from customers, regulatory agencies, members of the business community and associates
Develop talent pipelines and succession plans within retail
Review profit and loss statements and monitor factors contributing to profitability
Review financial statements and train store directors to read, understand and use the information to improve retail operations
Enforce and follow all government requirements, health and safety codes, inspection standards and company policies, procedures and retail operating standards
Promote a healthy and safe environment for employees and customers and protect company assets
Direct the activities of Store Directors and may direct other associates and/or activities
Plan, assign, and guide the work of the store management team; responsible for the execution of merchandising and operational plans
Ensure positive customer experience
Foster the growth and development of people resources
Manage department including staffing, training, performance management and career development of associates, and developing and monitoring department goals; develop and monitor department budget as required
Maintain current knowledge of industry trends and best Retail Merchandising practices; make recommendations to improve current programs and processes
