Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field, with a CPA or equivalent being preferred. A minimum of 7 years of progressive experience in tax operations and compliance within a corporate environment, preferably in telecommunications, is required, along with at least 3 years of leadership or supervisory experience in tax. Strong knowledge of US GAAP, SOX, and tax accounting principles is essential, as is experience with indirect taxes (sales tax, VAT, transactional) and exposure to transfer pricing. Proficiency in tax and financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Hyperion) and Excel, along with strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and the ability to meet deadlines, are necessary. Effective communication and collaboration skills to support business objectives are also required.

Responsibilities

The Director, Tax Operations will manage the company's day-to-day tax compliance and operational activities, including the preparation and filing of federal, state, and local income tax returns, property taxes, and indirect taxes. This role ensures compliance with US GAAP, SOX, and tax accounting requirements, supports transfer pricing documentation, and assists in responding to tax audits. Responsibilities include identifying compliance risks, maintaining defensible tax positions and supporting documentation, and implementing process improvements for efficiency and accuracy in tax operations. The Director will also supervise and coach tax staff, manage work allocation, collaborate with cross-functional teams, manage external tax advisors, and oversee the preparation of tax disclosures for financial statements and internal reports.
