Candidates should possess at least 5 years of experience driving and leading the commissions accounting and sales reporting process, along with a Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics, or a related business field. They should have a strong understanding of enterprise software compensation structures, including quotas, accelerators, pay mix, and OBO.
The Director of Sales Commissions will be responsible for designing and administering scalable, compliant commission plans and models in partnership with Revenue Operations, aligning with business goals and sales strategies; monitoring plan effectiveness, analyzing compensation-related performance metrics, and recommending adjustments to optimize motivation and revenue outcomes; managing the end-to-end commission lifecycle, including the calculation, validation, and timely payout of commissions, draws, MBOs, and SPIFFs; overseeing commission system implementation and maintenance, ensuring accurate integration with CRM, ERP, and related platforms; collaborating cross-functionally with Sales, Finance, and IT to ensure data integrity, forecasting alignment, and optimal system performance; coordinating with legal and human resources to ensure plan compliance with all applicable laws and regulations; analyzing commission data for accuracy, budget adherence, and actionable sales performance insights; investigating and resolving discrepancies as needed; maintaining comprehensive documentation of commission policies, procedures, and plan details, supporting SOX compliance and audit requirements; providing training, guidance, and support to sales teams regarding commission structures, tools, and policies; continuously improving processes and internal controls to drive efficiency and reduce risk; and generating ad hoc reports and insights for management while managing one Commissions Analyst and contributing to daily operations.
