We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Sr. Manager of Commissions to lead and transform our incentive compensation operations. In this pivotal role, you will oversee the Commissions team, collaborating closely with Revenue Operations, Deal Desk, People, Legal, and Accounting teams to enhance efficiency and scalability. This position demands both strategic foresight for long-term growth and the ability to execute tactical initiatives effectively. Your leadership will be instrumental in identifying opportunities for process improvements, driving change, and achieving outstanding operational results that both uphold our commitment to timely and accurate commission payouts and continually enhance business insights into sales team performance.

Requirements

  • Educational Background: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field is required.
  • Experience: Minimum 7+ years of work experience in a sales operations or finance role handling sales compensation.
  • People Management Experience: At least 3 years in a people management role.
  • Desired Experience: Experience in high-growth enterprise SaaS or technology public companies is highly desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Management: Oversee the commission team, ensuring day-to-day operations are efficient and effective. Foster a high-performance culture and motivate team members to exceed targets.
  • Plan Design: Partner with revenue operations during plan design cycles to craft best-in-class compensation plans that align to company objectives. This also includes collaboration with legal to draft letters and distribute.
  • Commission & Bonus Calculations: Lead the commissions team’s end-to-end process for calculation of incentive compensation for all participants globally, ensuring calculations are performed accurately and timely. Manage the team’s handling of all inquiries and escalations regarding plan operation and payout results.
  • Commissions Accounting: Lead financial accounting for commissions, including managing the monthly close process, reviewing accrual journals, performing ASC 606 / 340-40 diligence for cost deferrals and amortization, reviewing account reconciliations, flux analysis, and supporting internal & external audits as necessary.
  • ICM System Ownership: Act as business owner for CaptivateIQ, Airtable’s incentive compensation management platform, defining success outcomes, system requirements, and overseeing system configuration efforts.
  • Process Improvement & Automation: Drive process enhancements and automation projects, working cross-functionally with deal desk, order management, sales, legal, and enterprise technology teams to streamline operations.
