Requirements

Candidates must have 15+ years in software engineering with at least 10 years in engineering leadership as a people manager. They should possess 10+ years of experience leading DevOps, SRE, Developer Experience, Infrastructure, and/or Platform Engineering teams in a SaaS environment, with 8+ years of experience working with cloud providers, primarily AWS. Experience managing managers, building and scaling cloud-native tooling and frameworks in modern cloud environments (AWS, Kubernetes, Terraform), and leading teams that build high-quality internal tools, SDKs, or engineering empowerment services are required. Additionally, candidates need experience managing projects with diverse stakeholders, cloud cost management/FinOps, implementing DevOps culture and practices, and proven success in cloud architecture and environment management. Prior experience in mature startups or scaled engineering organizations and working in a HIPAA-compliant environment are preferred.

Responsibilities

The Director of Cloud & Platform Engineering will lead and scale SRE and Core Platform Services teams, driving the adoption of Developer Experience capabilities and promoting a DevOps culture. This role involves shaping the strategy, structure, and technical direction of cloud infrastructure to ensure reliability, scalability, security, and cost efficiency. The Director will partner with Product, Application, Data, and Security teams to deliver world-class developer experiences and resilient core services. Responsibilities include providing overall oversight for projects within their domain, making risk-based tradeoff decisions, and collaborating with other engineering leaders to achieve optimal outcomes. A key responsibility is managing and delivering an exceptional developer experience through tools, frameworks, and processes.
