Requirements

The ideal candidate will have a strong technical backbone and may remain involved in architectural reviews and deep-dive design sessions as needed, with over 10 years of experience in cloud-native development and distributed systems. Experience managing managers and key individual contributors like architects and senior staff engineers is required. Familiarity with CRDTs and cloud-native reliability is essential, along with the ability to build and architect cloud products with cost efficiency.

Responsibilities

The Director of Engineering, Cloud will lead and unify cloud product teams building the cloud CRDT-based database, data integrations technologies, CDC pipelines, and connectors. They will be responsible for converting product vision into engineering reality, translating customer needs into resilient and scalable cloud-native designs, and strengthening the bond between cloud product and SRE/platform teams. This role involves overseeing a growing organization, defining and driving the vision for cloud product excellence, evangelizing reliability and resilience, developing a cloud-native strategy for massive scale, ensuring seamless integration with cloud service providers, building and mentoring high-performing teams, collaborating with other departments, and establishing SLOs, monitoring, and alerting strategies.
