Candidates must possess a high school diploma or equivalent, along with 5 to 8 years of related experience and/or training, and demonstrate networks with senior internal and external personnel in their area of expertise. They should have excellent verbal and written communication skills in English, the ability to respond to on-call requests within one hour, experience cabling systems correctly based on ticket requirements and SOP standards, experience working with CAT5e and CAT6 copper cable and multi-mode and single-mode fiber, a proven ability to adapt to changing priorities, strong organization skills, working knowledge of computer hardware, understanding of networking components and infrastructures, knowledge of copper and fiber testers, excellent troubleshooting skills, understanding of Data Center best practices, experience with cable management, knowledge of Data-Center electrical, HVAC, and bandwidth infrastructures as well as fiber/copper topologies, and the ability to operate material handling equipment such as server lifts, pallet jacks, and forklifts (if certified).
The Data Center Technician III is responsible for the installation, moving, and decommissioning of hardware including cabinets, shelves, power strips, rails, fiber/copper/other cables and cable management, servers, storage, and other devices in the Data Center. They must confirm and label devices, rack and cables, work in a standard ticketing system, providing clear, timely, and appropriate customer communications, and work under the direction of Site Operations Supervisor and/or Operations Manager while following Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), Program Policies, Safety Policies, and Security Policies. This role also involves travel to other regions as needed, other duties as required, and potentially acting as a mentor to less experienced team members.
