Candidates must possess a degree in computer science or a related field and have at least 2 years of experience in technical or product support, ideally within the container terminal, shipping, or logistics industries, with SPARCS N4 TOS experience being mandatory. Proficiency in system platform technologies like networking, MS SQL Server, Oracle, and familiarity with Java, EDI, Spring, Hibernate, Xenos Transform Designer, and J2EE are recommended. Hands-on experience with JAVA, XML, and client-server applications is required, along with advantageous knowledge of Core Java/Groovy coding and familiarity with diagnostic tools like Hyperic. A strong understanding of relational database structures and web-based enterprise solutions, coupled with excellent technical troubleshooting skills, detail-orientation, self-motivation, and assertive communication are essential. Bilingual skills in English and/or Spanish/Portuguese are a plus, as is a willingness to travel, work extended hours, and demonstrate strong leadership, time management, and organizational abilities.
The Customer Support Engineer will provide support for internally developed software applications and troubleshoot customer system issues related to Navis products. Responsibilities include managing cases from start to resolution, collaborating with development, QA, and product release teams, and verifying, reproducing, and isolating application defects. The role involves debugging software applications, analyzing code for potential issues, and reproducing software defects in a lab environment using customer datasets or remote connections. Addressing customer 'question' cases requires in-depth investigation using various resources, and performing on-site customer-facing tasks such as software/hardware upgrades and resolving critical defects. Participation in software implementations and upgrades at customer facilities, being part of a global 24x7 on-call duty roster, and engaging in account management activities for assigned accounts are also key duties. The role requires flexibility to work in shifts and manage tasks under tight deadlines.
