The ideal candidate has proven success managing engineering teams, preferably in container technologies, cloud infrastructure, or product-centric environments, with a strong passion for team leadership, mentoring, and coaching. Experience building and scaling distributed systems, tooling, and automation for container images is required, along with superb organizational skills, project management capabilities, and the ability to drive technical vision, operational rigor, and cross-team collaboration. Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills are essential, and experience working with multiple time zones and remote/distributed teams is a strong plus.
The Manager, Engineering will lead, manage, and grow a diverse engineering team within the Containers organization, overseeing core image build tooling and infrastructure. They will manage multiple concurrent projects and workstreams, remove blockers, and enable efficient team operations. Responsibilities include setting quality standards, driving continuous improvements to test infrastructure, build systems, and processes, and overseeing day-to-day operations such as escalations, alerts, cross-team dependency management, and project tracking. The manager will also respond to and prioritize customer escalations and internal queries related to container services, and track success metrics including build success rates, escalation volumes, and team performance indicators.
