Position Overview

Join the Snowflake team where data does more. As a Professional Services Consulting Manager, Services Delivery Management, you will lead and develop a team of Services Delivery Managers (SDMs) who are experts in Snowflake implementation, optimization, and delivery. You will provide operational, tactical, and strategic delivery leadership for a portfolio of projects, ensuring customer commitments are met on time and within budget.

Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership & Development:
    • Lead and develop a team of Services Delivery Managers (SDMs).
    • Mentor and manage a team of Snowflake SDMs, aiding their expertise development and career growth.
    • Lead recruiting and onboarding efforts for Services Delivery Managers.
  • Delivery Management:
    • Provide operational, tactical, and strategic delivery leadership for a portfolio of projects.
    • Supervise and direct the operational, tactical, and strategic facets of project portfolios to ensure timely and budget-conscious fulfillment of client obligations.
    • Proactively identify and effectively address project risks in a timely manner.
    • Demonstrate ownership and accountability, contributing to a positive team culture.
    • Champion continuous improvement by identifying improvement items through formal lessons learned processes to enhance delivery processes, team capabilities, and project management proficiencies.
    • Provide delivery quality oversight and guidance for Snowflake engagements, ensuring adherence to best practices.
    • Provide guidance on resolving customer-specific project challenges, owning escalations and high-profile situations.
  • Project & Sales Support:
    • Act as a project and program management expert for all aspects of Snowflake implementation and various project/services types.
    • Collaborate with Professional Services Practice Teams and Sales Account Teams to support sales pursuits, including scoping projects, estimating work, creating delivery proposals, and providing regular delivery updates.
    • Work with Customers, System Integrators, and Technology Vendors on project pursuits, cadence, and progress.
  • Process Improvement & Collaboration:
    • Develop processes to improve services delivery and maintain a high level of excellence.
    • Collaborate with Product Management, Engineering, and Marketing to continuously improve Snowflake’s products and marketing.
    • Present services delivery capabilities to internal teams, external partners, and customers.

Ideal Candidate Qualifications

  • Education: BS/BA degree in project management, computer science, engineering, mathematics, related fields, or equivalent practical experience.
  • Experience:
    • 10+ years of experience in a post-sales delivery role, focused on delivering professional services (scoping large projects, developing delivery estimates and proposals, executing project plans, presenting to project management and executive audiences).
    • 5+ years of direct experience in people management, coaching, mentoring, and developing teams.
    • Extensive hands-on expertise with project management methodologies (e.g., Agile, Waterfall). Project management certification (e.g., PMP, Agile, Scrum) is a plus.
    • Experience leading and managing projects involving databases, data warehouses, and data processing, including large-scale database technology (e.g., Oracle, Teradata, Netezza, Greenplum).
    • Experience managing and mitigating project risks and critical path dependencies for large-scale enterprise projects.
    • Experience in complete project lifecycle management from requirements gathering to post-implementation support.
    • Experience managing projects involving migration or implementation of cloud-based solutions.
    • Experience constructing project plans and managing risks for projects involving common data integration and data transformation tools (e.g., Informatica, DataStage, Talend, Matillion) and common BI tools.
  • Skills:
    • Stellar consulting skills, including the ability to map business requirements to technical solutions, problem-solving skills, and proactivity.
    • Passion for developing these skills in others.
