Position Overview

HackerOne is seeking a Community Manager, Hacking Events to join our HackerOne Community Team. This role is ideal for individuals with a strong understanding of security who are passionate about helping others enhance their knowledge. The Community Manager will collaborate with internal HackerOne stakeholders, customers, and security researchers to plan, launch, and execute our Live Hacking Events, as well as support other community-driven events like Hacker Meet-ups.

As a customer-facing role, a key responsibility is providing strategic support to customer accounts, internal stakeholders, and the hacker community. This position will work directly with customers to ensure the success of Live Hacking Events, driving significant security results and fostering engagement within the HackerOne hacker community.

Responsibilities

  • Provide operational ownership for assigned HackerOne live hacking events, including customer and researcher management.
  • Lead project management oversight and organization for assigned live hacking events, covering customer pre-engagement, kickoff, planning, execution, and post-event analysis.
  • Plan and coordinate logistics for both in-person and virtual events, including budget management, primary vendor coordination, event scheduling, and communication.
  • Oversee the logistics team to ensure optimal event success.
  • Utilize customer success expertise to assist customers in initiating, planning, launching, and operating Live Hacking Events. This includes defining scope and test plans, supporting hacker engagement, and collaborating cross-functionally with internal teams such as Sales and Customer Success Managers (CSMs).
  • Serve as an escalation point for mediations and customer or researcher concerns, developing appropriate solutions.
  • Deliver internal enablement programs to support scalability.
  • Monitor participating customers’ programs to ensure they are maximizing value and achieving their objectives.

Remote Work & Location

This position is primarily remote. We are seeking candidates located in or near the following metropolitan areas:

  • Seattle, WA
  • San Francisco Bay Area
  • Austin, TX
  • Washington, D.C.

While the role is remote, periodic in-person interactions will be required to support team collaboration and foster stronger connections. This approach balances flexibility with opportunities for meaningful in-person relationship building.
