Requirements

Candidates should possess a PhD or MS in Color Science, Applied Physics, Materials Science, Imaging Science, or a related field. A strong understanding of spectral color measurement, color difference metrics (ΔE, ΔE00), and experience with color management systems are essential. Familiarity with dental shade systems (Vita Classical, Vita 3D-Master, Noritake CZR) and experience with inkjet printing and ceramic materials are highly desirable.

Responsibilities

The Color Management Lead will architect and own the end-to-end color management system for prosthetic workflows, including ink formulation, print hardware, software calibration, and quality control. This involves developing color calibration pipelines, translating dental shade systems into digital color spaces, and building predictive models for ink behavior. Responsibilities also include establishing standardized measurement protocols, creating master reference libraries, quantifying color difference tolerances, and characterizing substrate influences. The role requires partnering with R&D, hardware, and ceramic process engineers, leading experimental design, and defining production quality standards. Additionally, the lead will train production teams, serve as the internal subject matter expert on color science, and communicate complex concepts to non-specialists.
