Requirements

Candidates must be Board Certified in Orthopaedic Spine Surgery, Neurosurgery, Neurology, or Physical Medicine & Rehabilitation, and possess a valid medical license in California, Georgia, Florida, Illinois, Kentucky, Louisiana, Nevada, or Texas. Worker’s Compensation experience is preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

The Physician Reviewer will utilize clinical expertise to review workers’ compensation claims, interpreting the medical appropriateness of services provided by other healthcare professionals in compliance with state regulations and guidelines, nationally recognized evidence-based guidelines, client-specifics, policies, procedures, performance standards, and URAC guidelines. They will ensure the rationale for determinations is clear and concise, providing adequate supporting documentation, and returning cases on or before the due date. Additionally, they will make telephone calls as mandated, maintain proper credentialing and licenses, attend required training, perform quality assurance duties, respond to regulatory issues, and utilize current criteria and resources to support sound decision-making.
