Candidates must have an Associate Degree with 2 or more years of related experience, with additional relevant experience accepted in lieu of a degree. Knowledge of POTS and ISDN telephony system architectures and configurations is required. A current Security+ or equivalent DoD 8570 IAT level II certification and a final DoD Secret security clearance are also mandatory.
The Cable Technician will act as a Tier-2 technician for customers seeking support for POTS, ISDN, and other copper pair related telecom technologies. They will employ TDRs, Multimeters, and Butt Sets to accurately diagnose and troubleshoot telephone outages, ensuring swift resolution and minimal downtime. The technician will utilize software to efficiently troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve technical issues and outage tickets, while identifying and addressing issues promptly. They will liaise with service groups for proper escalation during outages or degraded system performance and collaborate with partner vendors for moves, upgrades, and patch management of voice infrastructure, ensuring timely resolution of network outages.
