Experience in municipal sales, particularly in hauling, homeowner associations, privatization, and outsourcing opportunities
Leadership and supervisory skills to manage Managers, Municipal Sales and support Area Presidents and General Managers
Expertise in sales strategy design, implementation, goal setting, performance measurement, and coaching
Knowledge of government relations, RFP/proposal development, and contract negotiations
Ability to assess market share, external environment (municipalities, competitors, legislation), and identify target markets
Skills in hiring, training, performance management, relationship nurturing, and strategic planning for customer retention, prospecting, and price increases
Responsibilities
Provide leadership, strategic guidance, support, and expertise to Area Presidents, General Managers, and directly supervise Managers, Municipal Sales in designing and implementing sales strategies for new and re-bid municipal hauling and homeowner association opportunities to ensure growth, retention, and quality of revenue
Assist in setting goals and targeted accounts for Managers, Municipal Sales and measure success against those goals regularly
Provide ongoing coaching to Managers, Municipal Sales and review performance with the VP or Director, Municipal Services at regular intervals
Coordinate with the Government Affairs team on government relations and municipal sales-related activities to improve relationships and ensure consistency in policies, programs, and systems
Develop and achieve high standards through improved training, communication, and cooperative efforts
Lead sales efforts for targeted large-scale municipal services privatization and outsourcing opportunities in conjunction with the Director, Public Private Partnerships, including implementation of sales strategies for new privatization or outsourced municipal infrastructure opportunities
Support preparation and implementation of Area municipal marketing and sales plans, including measuring market share, identifying target markets, creating strategies to increase share, and assessing external environment (municipalities, competitors, legislation)
Coach and develop Division Municipal Services Managers, including hiring, training, performance management, and related issues
Identify targeted privatization opportunities and create strategies to convert prospects into customers
Nurture and expand relationships with the top 10 accounts in the Areas of responsibility
Work closely with Area and Corporate leadership to determine strategic objectives for municipal and homeowner association markets, including customer retention, prospecting, and price increase strategies
Assist in RFP and proposal development, including preparing, assembling, packaging, and delivering proposals
Participate as needed in contract negotiations for all new and re-bid sales
