Requirements

Certified Welding Inspector (CWI) required
Welding Engineering Degree preferred; in lieu of degree, may accept Military Welding training, Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, or additional years of formalized welding training/experience
Prior technical sales experience preferred
Four years of prior welding industry experience preferred
Demonstrates strong interest and basic knowledge/understanding of welding processes and applications
Demonstrated relationship management & consultative aptitude with ability to problem-solve and devise technical solutions
Ability to build effective relationships with all levels and roles within and outside the organization
Knowledge of TQM, Lean, and/or Six Sigma principles
Strong mathematical, problem-solving, and analytical skills applicable to sales analysis and cost comparisons
Effective verbal and written communication; effective listening; works well in cross-functional teams
Self-motivated, results-oriented with excellent organizational, time management, multi-tasking, and flexibility skills
PC proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Membership in AWS, ASM, ASNT, ASQ, ASME, and/or SME highly desirable

Responsibilities

Grow profitable sales of welding processes and applications to new and existing small and large customers/prospects
Develop in-depth technical knowledge to match customer needs with Airgas products/services, address inquiries, and provide customer service
Develop understanding and ability to utilize Airgas sales tools (efficiency analysis, welding surveys, scope of work) to promote sales and margin profitability
Travel to customer sites to understand current welding processes and determine beneficial Airgas welding solutions
Provide customers with sales knowledge and marketing literature to promote Airgas Shielding Gases, welding products, and services
Upgrade selling skills and technical/product knowledge in flexible/fixed automation applications and CNC cutting systems
Operate safely at all times, advocate safety by example, and promote safety with associates and customers
Handle special projects and other duties as required
Work closely with commercial teams using Airgas Advanced Fabrication Sales Methodology, including Airgas Efficiency Analysis & Engineered Cost Reductions
Interact with Airgas associates, external vendors/suppliers, and existing/prospective customers
