Requirements

  • Ability to scout for vineyard pests and diseases
  • Capability to conduct vineyard sampling and yield estimation activities

  • Experience supporting relationships between Internal Vineyard Operations, Grower Relations, Winemaking, and other departments

  • Ability to monitor farm plan progress, create scouting reports, and track phenology, crop load, canopy management, pest/disease management, fertilization, and irrigation
  • Proficiency in collecting, organizing, and ensuring standardized viticulture record keeping and data collection
  • Leadership in sampling efforts (tissue sampling, soil testing, yield estimates, block history)
  • Experience collecting data for vineyard experiments
  • Contribution to improving SOPs, processes, and implementing new technologies/practices
  • Support for Lean, sustainability, and compliance programs
  • Ability to support technical viticulture development and education of interns, operators, and seasonal samplers
  • Demonstration of leadership modeling company values and representing the company professionally
  • Championing sustainable winegrowing practices, certification, and compliance

Responsibilities

  • Monitor farm plan progress in the field and report on individual block performance, alerting leadership of issues
  • Create regular scouting reports for management on farming practices, including crop load, canopy management, phenology tracking, pest/disease management, fertilization, and irrigation
  • Collect and organize vineyard data
  • Ensure standardized viticulture record keeping and execute data collection for internal vineyards
  • Lead sampling efforts including tissue sampling, soil testing, yield estimates, long-term block history
  • Collect data for vineyard experiments to improve wine quality, sustainability, and economics
  • Perform any other duties as reasonably required to support the department
  • Contribute to improving standard operating procedures and existing processes for a world-class viticulture program
  • Support implementation of new technologies and trial new practices/tools with Regional Viticulturist
  • Participate in continuing education programs, meetings, and research in wine and agricultural industries
  • Support Lean, sustainability, and compliance programs
  • Support technical viticulture development and continuing education of interns, operators, and seasonal samplers
  • Demonstrate leadership by modeling company values, expecting the same from others, and aligning to strategic imperatives
  • Represent Constellation Brands in regional and industry groups professionally
  • Champion sustainable winegrowing practices and facilitate certification and compliance
