Candidates must possess a Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 2 years of underwriting or related insurance experience. Strong customer service skills, proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and the ability to quickly learn industry-specific software are essential. A strong desire to learn, explore new ideas, and seek new knowledge, along with flexibility and the ability to pivot in response to shifting priorities, are also required. Professional designations like CPCU, CIC, CRIS, or a Property & Casualty Brokers License are a plus.
The Underwriter I will review and analyze insurance applications, renewals, and change requests to evaluate risk characteristics. They will utilize underwriting guidelines to determine eligibility, appropriate premiums, limits, and coverages, ensuring compliance with all industry and government regulations. Responsibilities include collaborating with the underwriting team, gathering supplementary data from multiple databases, managing inbound calls, responding to customer needs, and processing accounts from quotes to policy issuance.
