Requirements

2-3 years of experience in the related area
Thorough knowledge of functional area processes and procedures
Knowledge of EPA regulations, transportation equipment, and associated vehicle maintenance requirements
Knowledge of personnel management and operations
Knowledgeable in federal, state, and local regulations concerning transportation matters
Knowledge of EPA and DOT regulations and of transportation principles and best practices
Skill to investigate complaints, analyze information, and recommend resolutions
Ability to address difficult situations in a constructive manner
Ability to utilize computer technology for communication, data gathering, and reporting
Negotiation and problem-solving skills
Ability to build rapport with associates and managers
Detail-oriented, with a high level of accuracy and the ability to detect inconsistencies in data

Responsibilities

Provides day-to-day supervision of CDL Drivers and employees
Plans schedules and routes to ensure maximum efficiencies
Ensures the vehicle fleet is properly maintained
Ensures compliance with Federal, State, and Local laws for Hazardous Material and Hazardous Waste shipments
Monitors and assists with keeping operational costs at or below budget
Ensures clear communication with internal operations, disposal facilities, and others in the normal course of transportation
Supervises employees per organization chart
Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws
Interviews, hires, and trains employees
Plans, assigns, and directs work
Appraises performance; rewards and disciplines employees
Addresses complaints and resolves problems
Performs other related duties as assigned by management
Analyzes and resolves work problems and assists team members in solving work problems
Selects, develops, and evaluates team members to ensure efficient operations
