Candidates must hold a Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, and possess an Engineer in Training (EIT) Certification or a Professional Engineer (PE) license, which is a plus. They should have at least two years of related experience in construction inspection of civil/structural facility elements, and be familiar with IDOT, CDOT, and Illinois Tollway experience, as well as e-builder, ICORS, and Microsoft Office Suite.
The Transportation Construction Engineer will conduct field inspections, perform material testing and documentation for construction engineering projects, manage project documentation, calculations, and project stakeholders, interpret plans and specifications, ensure compliance with contract plans, communicate with team members and stakeholders, provide protection for the owner against defects, serve as a liaison with contractors, maintain job site records, create pay estimates, and verify completed work. They will also assist with design during off-season, perform general civil engineering duties, and provide client service, while adhering to safety standards and considering the safety of the public.
