Requirements

  • Previous medical administration experience (advantage)
  • Previous experience in the Insurance, Allied Health, Legal industries (advantage)
  • Background in customer service, medical administration, insurance claims, or recent graduate in Law, Business, Nursing, Allied Health, Psychology
  • The ability to work concurrently across multiple technology platforms
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills
  • The ability to plan and organise work in a manner that ensures timeframes are managed
  • Ability to work within a team in an office-based environment
  • Sensitivity to issues related to people with medical, cultural and social needs
  • Australian Citizen or Permanent Resident

Responsibilities

  • Provide needs-based services to people with work related injuries
  • Active management of claims for compensation to deliver appropriate and timely treatment and promote return to work
  • Ensure injured workers receive entitlements in accordance with the Workplace Injury Rehabilitation and Compensation Act 2013
  • Liaise with injured workers, their employers and treating practitioners to facilitate and support medical management and return to work activities
  • Undergo 4 weeks' theoretical and practical training in workers’ compensation case management (learning claim life cycle, medical treatments, payments, return to work, legal aspects, challenging conversations)
  • Work in team developing skills: arranging medical examinations, taking high volume client/customer calls, assessing/processing payments, developing case management strategies, reviewing/monitoring treatment requests, liaising with stakeholders
  • Participate in further training throughout first 12 months on workplace injury management, return to work planning, dispute resolution, and workers’ compensation law
