Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent plus 2 years of related utility industry work experience; or an Associate's Degree in Electrical/Electronic/Civil/Mechanical Engineering Technology or related fields
  • Valid Driver's License
  • Live or willing to relocate at own expense to within 45-minute reporting time of either the Pulaski Service Center or the Wytheville Service Center
  • Ability to meet physical demands, including walking rights-of-way in adverse conditions, carrying/handling tools weighing up to 11 pounds, and using brush axe or machete (varies by location)

Responsibilities

  • Perform entry-level technical work associated with planning, engineering, design, analysis, research, development, testing, construction, maintenance, and operation of company equipment and facilities
  • Possess and apply technical knowledge from Associate Degree in relevant engineering technology fields, standards, codes, regulations, equipment, materials, systems, and business processes
  • Assist in handling routine problems and support higher-level employees
  • Demonstrate basic computer literacy and skills
  • Perform work as assigned and coached by higher-level employees, while working collaboratively and seeking assistance as needed
  • Plan and prioritize routine work per AEP standards, maintain accurate records
  • Apply technical knowledge to resolve problems, show initiative to improve processes and skills, compile/analyze information
  • Communicate effectively orally and in writing with internal/external customers, assist in preparing technical reports, act as a team player
  • Develop decision-making skills based on judgment and job knowledge, understand local organizational roles
