thatgamecompany is seeking a Technical Writer to create documentation for in-house tools used to support their flagship title, Sky: Children of the Light. These internally-developed applications are crucial for live-operating Sky for millions of players. As a Technical Writer, you will enhance the product user experience by developing high-quality documentation and in-app help content, collaborating with product managers, developers, UX designers, and support teams.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in English, Technical Communication, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • 3+ years of experience in technical writing or a similar role (internships may count).
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to explain complex concepts clearly and simply to diverse audiences, including internal and external developers and users with varying technical literacy.
  • Familiarity with SaaS products and general software development terminology.
  • Experience writing for a SaaS application or working in a software development environment.
  • Basic understanding of documentation tools such as Google Docs, Confluence, or similar.
  • Strong attention to detail and a user-focused mindset.

Responsibilities

  • Write, edit, and maintain user-facing documentation, including user guides, how-tos, FAQs, and release notes.
  • Develop concise, intuitive in-app help and tooltips to support users at the point of need.
  • Collaborate with subject matter experts to gather and validate technical information.
  • Ensure content consistency in tone, style, and formatting across the product and documentation.
  • Organize and structure content for easy searching, navigation, and consumption.
  • Participate in product testing and documentation reviews to ensure accuracy and usability.
  • Update and revise content based on product changes and user feedback.
