Requirements

High school education or a combination of education and experience from which equal skills and knowledge are acquired
Three references in childcare
One completed course in Early Childhood or Human/Child Development
At least 1-year experience in a childcare center
Specialized skills in some form of activity applicable to children's interest and the school's programming
Well-developed customer service skills
The ability to handle customer complaints and special requests and interact effectively with customers and coworkers
Commit to working 10 full days during weekends and holiday periods throughout the winter season
Complete a Childcare Background Check and fingerprinting (different from AOE check)

Responsibilities

Plan and implement activities to meet the physical, emotional, intellectual, and social needs of the children in the program for each day
Carry out planned activities implemented by the Room Leader
Feed the children according to schedule set forth
Ensure that the equipment used daily, and facility (room area) are cleaned thoroughly and remain a safe environment at all times
Be familiar with emergency procedures
Ensure that children are supervised at all times and in compliance with Non-Recurring Childcare guidelines
Provide opportunities for sleep and rest
Provide a safe and secure environment for children to feel comfortable in
Implement positive discipline when needed
Clearly and effectively communicate with the children and other staff members
