Requirements

  • One year OR Training or Experience
  • Graduate of an accredited Surgical Technology Training Program
  • BLS certification
  • Surgical Technologist Certification required for external hires per NJ State Law
  • Maintenance of New Jersey State required 15 CEs per year

Responsibilities

  • Scrubs for, prepares, sets-up and assists during any surgical procedure
  • Provides support to nursing and ancillary departments by transporting and transferring patients to and between units when necessary
  • Prepares instruments and supplies for future procedures
  • Collects and handles specimens according to policy and procedures
  • Under the direction of the Registered Nurse and/or Physician, handles the instruments, supplies and equipment necessary during the surgical procedure
  • Ensures quality patient care during the operative procedure and is constantly on vigil for maintenance of the sterile field
