Expert & Leadership (9+ years)
Candidates must have a proven track record of scaling and managing a multi-faceted quality organization (QA, SDET, etc.) to 10-20+ members. A strong understanding of modern, proactive quality strategies and the ability to shift from reactive bug-finding to a proactive culture of building quality from the start are essential. Experience in managing and mentoring leaders, owning hiring and performance management, and championing a unified quality culture is required. Familiarity with defining and owning the company's overall quality vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap, including developing plans to evolve the balance of manual and automated testing, is also necessary. The ability to establish and report on key quality metrics (KPIs) and own the budget for the Quality Engineering organization is required. A "shift-left" mentality and experience integrating quality practices and automated testing earlier into the software development lifecycle are crucial.
The Strategic Quality Engineering Manager will manage and mentor leaders of the QA and SDET teams, developing their leadership skills and holding them accountable for team performance. They will own the hiring, performance management, and career development for the entire Quality Engineering organization. The manager will champion a unified "One Quality" culture, breaking down silos and ensuring seamless collaboration between manual and automation functions. They will represent the Quality Engineering organization at the senior leadership level, advocating for resources and ensuring quality has a strong voice, while building and maintaining a high-performing, engaged organization. The role involves defining and owning the company's overall quality vision, strategy, and multi-year roadmap, and developing the plan to intelligently evolve the balance of manual and automated testing. Establishing and reporting on key quality metrics (KPIs) and owning the budget for the Quality Engineering organization are key responsibilities. Furthermore, the manager will partner with Engineering and Product leadership to define and embed quality standards and processes throughout the entire development lifecycle, own the master test strategy for major product releases, and standardize quality processes across the organization. Driving the selection and implementation of tooling and infrastructure is also a core responsibility.
