Requirements

Candidates should have 8+ years of Java or Kotlin development experience with Spring Boot or Micronaut, strong experience with relational and NoSQL databases, and cloud experience, ideally AWS. Experience with container orchestrators like Kubernetes or Nomad, event-driven systems using Kafka, and solution design for highly scalable systems is required. The role also requires the ability to quickly learn and evaluate new software, frameworks, and APIs, an understanding of monitoring and systems provisioning, a strong focus on testing and security, an entrepreneurial mindset, and good communication skills.

Responsibilities

The Staff Software Engineer will contribute to the architecture of APIs and backend services, work on existing backend systems, and design and drive the implementation of new microservices. Responsibilities include assisting with in-life maintenance, testing, debugging, and documentation of deployed services, managing the full software development lifecycle from requirements to production, and setting high standards for secure, high-quality, well-tested, and scalable systems. The engineer will also mentor junior colleagues and improve the onboarding experience for partners.
