Prior experience as a Technical Support Engineer, SRE, or DevOps specialist focusing on platform and cloud infrastructure is required. Candidates must possess knowledge of and troubleshooting experience with cloud networking on at least one major cloud provider (e.g., AWS VPC, PrivateLink, Security Groups, NACLs, Route 53), SSL/TLS, various authentication techniques (basic, token, OAuth, SSO), and Authorization concepts (ACLs and RBAC). Proven experience troubleshooting applications in Linux/Unix environments, familiarity with command-line tools, and a strong understanding of the Kafka protocol or a willingness to become an expert are essential. Hands-on experience with Kubernetes management or application deployment on K8s, or experience with IaC tools like Ansible or Terraform, is also required.
The Technical Support Engineer will work with customers to resolve issues with their Confluent deployments, contribute to process development to ensure efficient and best-in-class team operations, and communicate with the core engineering team to provide real-time product feedback. Responsibilities also include improving product documentation, authoring knowledge base articles and runbooks, and continuously enhancing personal and team knowledge of Apache Kafka and associated products. The role involves diagnosing, reproducing, and resolving customer issues, and making customers successful through direct interaction.
